Attention please!!

Thank you very much for your continuing interest and support in the Pre-97 Pension Justice campaign. This download is not currently required. All the letters to MPs plus the written evidence we submitted have done what was needed at the time.

And with our recent event on 9/9 at Portcullis House / Parliament we are on the radar!

When we need new letters, believe me, we will let you know.  The next letters will be to members of the House of Lords. Please get those thinking caps on and identify any members of the House of Lords that you may be able to encourage to come to our event on 28 October.

Message to your Member of Parliament:

Dear _______________

Over the past several weeks and months, Members of the Hewlett Packard Pensioners Association (HPPA) have received supportive messages of understanding and concern for our situation as Pre 97 pensioners. These messages referenced government reform underway that would address our concerns.

You may recall that the Hewlett Packard (HPE) pension scheme relies on discretionary increases as a means of indexation. These increases effectively ceased when Digital Equipment Corporation / Compaq was acquired by HP, which split in 2015 creating HPE. In the last 23 years we have had 3 small (1%, 1%, 3%) discretionary increases. Today our pre-1997 pensions are devalued by up to 70%. Surviving widows/widowers’ pensions are affected in the same way. You will no doubt be aware that pensions become essential at a time of increasing need and vulnerability. If you wish, I could send more information or speak with you about our concerns.

If the Pensions Schemes Bill 255 2024-25 is the government’s proposal to address our concerns, then it is not clear that the Bill proposes reforms that would result in better outcomes for Pre 97 pensioners.

I would welcome your views and any clarification of the Bill.

Thank you to every donor who has supported our campaign work. Your generosity has directly funded multiple  lobbying visits at Westmintser, allowing us to push for meaningful change for Pre-97 pensioners.

We still have ongoing costs to cover, and we expect to continue our lobbying efforts in the months ahead. Regular donations make a real difference and help us keep this work moving forward. Any continued support is genuinely appreciated and will be put to good use.
