As the good ship HPPA and the Pre-97 Pension Justice fleet travel on into 2026, Patricia a.k.a. Pat offers a few words from the lookout.
First, Happy New Year to all. Best wishes for 2026.
The Pension Scheme Bill is in the Committee Stage in the House of Lords and will be moving into the report stage. The quality of the debate is very good and there are often voices of support to be heard. The style may be a bit formal at times, but the content is often excellent. You can watch it on Parliamentary TV.
Currently there are 4 amendments that might be useful to us if they survive. We are doing all we can to support them. What you see on our social media and web site is just the tip of the iceberg. Not to worry, we’re not the Titanic.
However, the Pre-97 problem is still not seen by enough people and is not a priority for government. We must continue to increase the awareness and gain the support of our MPs. Our cause competes for attention with so much going on in the world and increasing uncertainty. From Greenland to tariffs to Gaza to new flights to the moon! Seems like each day we are breaking new ground for levels of noise and chaos.
Despite the turbulence, we do have steady advocates, and they are doing their best. We need to keep them on side and get them to help us create more awareness and support.
As for the course – it’s steady as she goes. We’ll keep our eyes on the prize and continue.
Regards,
Patricia Kennedy
