I joined Digital in 1982, as an HR professional working for Computer Special Systems (CSS) in Dec Park. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to develop my HR career across a number of departments including the Field Sales Office at Leatherhead, the OD and Change Management Group based at Shire Hall, then back to Dec Park to work with the Corporate Finance function before joining the Right Sizing Team – focussing on reducing the headcount across the business. I left Digital in 1992 under the Right Sizing Programme first wave to travel the world before returning to the UK to start up my HR and Change Management Consultancy organisation which ran for over 31 years, much of my initial business was generously provided by ex-Digital colleagues..
I have offered my support to HPPA, because I believe that there is a grave injustice that our pensions have lost so much value. Had I known that this was going to happen, I would have made alternative savings arrangements earlier in my career.
Digital was a great company to work for, caring for its people and ground breaking in its technology. I have fond memories of my time there – and have even kept my Digital badge as a souvenir – how sad is that!
