First and foremost in our latest update is to let you know that, after fourteen years, Steve Spillane is standing down from the HPPA team. Steve has provided unstinting efforts in our quest to be fairly treated by HPE. This includes gaining traction with politicians who took up our cause resulting in a Westminster Debate in Parliament a few years ago. We owe Steve a huge debt of gratitude for his contribution over the years. Thank you Steve!
Steve has offered to continue working with us to re-establish relationships with the current coterie of politicians in an effort to end the mistreatment of those of us with pre 1997 pension payments.
Last month, we produced another presentation outlining our latest thinking and ideas on how the Trustees and HPE can limit the financial suffering many of our members are experiencing as a result of the current and ongoing cost of living crisis. You can find the presentation HERE.
Paul Early, the Chair of the Trustee, has already acknowledged our presentation and is making arrangements to meet with us to discuss our ideas in more detail. We hope to set up a meeting shortly, but well before key decisions on discretionary payments are made for 2023. We have also sent the presentation to HPE CEO Marc Waters along with a request to meet with senior executives to discuss the issues faced by pensioners.
By now you should have received a message from Paul concerning the nomination process for the appointment of new Member Nominated Trustees (MNT’s). You may wish to take up this opportunity to make your voice heard on behalf of pension scheme members. Details of the nomination process can be found HERE.
