House of Lords Engagement Boosts Awareness

House of Lords Engagement Boosts Awareness of Pre-1997 Pensioners’ Plight

The House of Lords is playing a key role in  HPPA’s ongoing campaign to support HPE pre-1997 pensioners. There are two main reasons for this: several peers are former actuaries or pensions ministers with deep expertise and influence, and the Lords has a well-earned reputation for improving legislation through thoughtful amendments.

As part of our wider efforts, we’ve written to a number of Lords with a known interest in pensions. The responses have ranged from short acknowledgements to in-depth letters of several pages. Importantly, this engagement is already contributing to the wider pensions debate and, crucially, raising awareness of the injustices faced by our pre-1997 pensioner community.

We’ll continue to build on this momentum as the campaign progresses.
