Jan 2025 HPPA Pension Justice Update

Best wishes to all for 2025!

Good news, our campaign continues to gain pace and visibility. Together with the companies in the Pre 1997 Alliance, 124 MPs have been contacted. Alan Gemmell, MP, chaired a meeting with 6 other MPs (including 2 new members of the Pension Select Committee) and Patricia Kennedy, co-chair HPPA and Brian Lawrence on 20 Jan. At their choice, most of the meeting focussed on our proposals for the way forward (a.k.a. the 4 “asks” of government). The first “ask” was focused on DWP&TPR doing the research into the scale and impact of the Pre 1997 injustice. The following 2 articles confirm that the research is indeed underway.

On 12 Feb, Torsten Bell, who recently replaced Emma Reynolds as Minister, will be meeting with approximately 12 MPs. Thanks to your letters to your MPs the original size of group has doubled. If your Minister is supportive of our campaign, perhaps you want to suggest that they ask to be included in the meeting.

Also – you may have seen recent press release about the Pre 1997 Alliance which generated interest leading to contact from other groups e.g. AIG, and Atos/Sema.

And we have finally had a response from Trustee that had been promised to arrive before the end of last year. We are reviewing the company and trustee responses and will update you when we can.

We will let you know how the 12 Feb meeting goes. Remember there’s always Facebook for more frequent news.

Kind regards, Patricia
