Pensions Schemes Bill 255 – Evidence Submission to Committee Stage

The Hewlett Packard Pension Association (HPPA), a voluntary organisation representing over 2100 members, is preparing our evidence for submission within the next 3 weeks in relation to Part 1, Chapter 2, clause 8.

In the meantime, we would respectfully ask the Committee please to consider the following question:

“Given that it was mandated by our employers at that time that employees contributed to the Defined Benefits pension fund, and therefore partly funded any surplus, is it not reasonable that pensioners should also have a statutory right to share in the distribution of any surplus?”

The House of Lords starts the examination of the Pension Schemes Bill

January 12th – The House of Lords begin their detailed examination of the Pension Schemes Bill in committee stage.

“The Pension Schemes Bill will implement government commitments to reform private pensions.  The government intends these reforms to  improve outcomes for savers nd encourage pension schemes to invest in the UK economy”
